As reported by the official website : “The Benefit Companies (SB) represent an evolution of the very concept of a company: they integrate in their corporate purpose, in addition to profit objectives, the aim of having a positive impact on society and the biosphere.”

Poplar Shade is a trademark of Sintesi SRL Società Benefit and, as such, all social purposes (objectives of common benefit) are decided during the constitution phase, inserted in the statute and signed by a notary. For this reason, our commitment to the environment is certified.

The term “Handmade” in eyewear is certainly an abused term as much of the processing is automated.

However, while the bulk of the work is done by machines, a specialized human component is still critical to achieving the level of finish and precision required by our eyewear. Specifically, a series of steps, including the entire polishing process, require manual work and a deep knowledge of the trade.

On the contrary, our products made of horn are entirely handmade by a single craftsman, with the exception of an initial machine-made engraving on the material which guarantees correct compliance with the measures established in the design phase.

Acetate is often mistaken for a biodegradable material as it is of vegetable origin (it derives in fact from cotton and cellulose obtained from the processing of trees). However, the truth is that acetate has a strong chemical plasticizer component.

Thanks to the exclusive M49 formula designed by Mazzucchelli we are able to create a 68% biodegradable product of entirely vegetable origin.

In this way we guarantee a product that is as natural as possible.

All the horn we use comes from industrial waste from other industrial processing and never from endangered species

In this way we give new life to waste and materials that otherwise would become fertilizer or small decoorative objects.

The horn used is composed of keratin and therefore totally biodegradable, thermoformable and workable without environmental risks.

Furthermore, the horn is very complex to work with and difficult to industrialize, which makes each piece truly unique.

Each pair of glasses we make provides for the compensation of the CO2 produced through the planting of trees or similar methods.

The process is carried out by partner companies (such as ZeroCO2 ) which calculate the offset CO2 and the social impact generated.

We have chosen to give our users the ability to redeem, locate and receive updates on the trees planted to ensure maximum transparency.

FSC is the acronym used to indicate papers and woods whose origin is controlled and certified.

For each tree cut down to make an FSC product a new specimen is planted, guaranteeing a continuous reforestation cycle.

In addition, more attention is paid to fauna, flora and responsible deforestation, for example no trees are cut down on which the integrity of slopes or coastal protection depends.

By biodegradable we mean a material which, once placed in a natural environment, decomposes into less polluting or non-polluting compounds. Specifically, the biodegradable components within the materials used do not damage the water and do not affect agricultural production.

The lenses we use are in Bio-Nylon, a more sustainable version of nylon (already in itself one of the least impacting plastics). Specifically, the nylon we use has more than 34% of plant-based and biodegradable plasticizer.

With this term we mean the joints of the hinges that allow the rotation of the temples and the consequent closure of our glasses.

We have chosen 5-joint hinges to ensure a lower risk of loosening of the same given by continuous use.
